She was only on Chapter 2 of the book, but it didn’t stop her from joining the Learning Lab. Driven by a desire to modernize her donor cultivation practices and raise more revenue, Roberta Smith, President of Alagille Syndrome Alliance, was eager to understand where to start and what to prioritize.
This is exactly what the Digital Fundraising Transformation Learning Lab is designed to do: help nonprofit professionals identify digital gaps, clarify their strategy, and chart a practical path forward.
It’s not a webinar. It’s not a lecture. It’s an interactive personalized experience built on the frameworks from my book and focuses on the Digital Fundraising Maturity Scorecard (page 140). We unpack best practices, share real-world examples, and create an actionable plan to start using immediately.
Roberta’s Takeaways
As a health organization serving multiple audiences, Roberta struggled with a “blanket” communication strategy: an everything to everyone approach.
Coincidentally, her team is in the middle of a database migration! While normally a stressful and difficult time, it offers the perfect opportunity to rethink how to tag audiences and track interests for more targeted outreach. We explored how she could categorize both audiences and interests to build smarter engagement strategies and stronger fundraising results. Plus, we talked about feedback loops and surveys to gather characteristics and preferences from donors and prospects.
Roberta is already doing a lot of things right:
- Using testimonials in her materials
- Leveraging generative AI to develop copy
- Fostering a collaborative working environment
- Maintaining an optimized, SEO-friendly website
Her new CRM will give her the data foundation and audience tracking structure she needs. And after our session, she will prioritize:
- Paid advertising for campaigns (both engagement and fundraising)
- Utilizing dynamic ask strings to customize donation amounts based on giving history
- Swapping Facebook giveaways where people ‘like’ the post to enter with separate email entry forms for email acquisition
- Future goals include email automations, user journeys, and A/B testing
She is very excited to skip to Chapter 4 for fresh engagement campaign ideas. And said “I’ve learned so much and am already working on an implementation strategy for the knowledge I’ve gained.“
Step Into the Lab
I understand all too well the nonprofit professional’s limited time and strained resources. (I am one of them!) Therefore, I’m turning the Learning Lab into a series with smaller groups and multiple opportunities to join. Each session will be limited to 10 people to ensure that you’ll get the same customized and actionable guidance as Roberta.
Take the first step in transforming your strategy! Sign up for the next Learning Lab. Upcoming dates can be viewed on my Eventbrite page.
Bring your curiosity, your challenges, and your commitment to change. Hope to see you there!
